INSTRUCTIONS

PURPOSE and SCOPE:
Academic Journal of Homeopathy and Integrative Medicine is a peer-reviewed (double blind) scientific journal covering the subjects interacting with integrative medicine fields such as homeopathy, phytotherapy, aromatherapy, orthomolecular medicine, toxicology, biochemistry, physiology and epigenetics.
Academic Journal of Homeopathy and Integrative Medicine accepts scientific articles in following categories: Original Research, Review, Case Presentation, Editorial, Letter to the Editor, Scientific Letter, Interventional Techniques, Differential Diagnosis, What is your Diagnosis, Medical Book Reviews, Proving Studies, Materia Medica Information, Monographs, Analysis Reports, Tool Development Reports.
The purpose of the journal is to accumulate knowledge on subjects such as application, analysis and assessment methods, evaluation of scientific research; reproducibility, practicality, potential side effects and safety of treatment and treatment-assisting methods and their interaction with other methods; devices developed in related branches, results of measurement and analysis methods, which all fall within the scope of Integrative Medicine.
All editorial and publication processes of the journal are conducted in accordance with the publication principles released by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Authors of the related works are responsible for the ethical obligations related to the publication.
To prevent potential plagiarism, screening results obtained from softwares such as iThenticate, Turnitin etc. are prerequisites.
RIGHT OF PUBLICATION: Articles, images, figures and tables published in the Academic Journal of Homeopathy and Integrative Medicine shall not be printed or reproduced in part or whole without the written consent of the publisher. Summarization and citation can be used for scientific purposes, provided that proper references are given. Related authors are responsible for articles, figures and images published in the journal and companies are responsible for announcements and advertisements.

SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITY

All authors shall have academic-scientific contribution on the articles submitted to the journal. Person or persons designated as the author(s) shall:
- Plan or conduct the study in the article
- Write or revise the article
- Approve the final version.
The authors are responsible for the compliance of the article with scientific convention.

ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITY

The journal adopts the principle of compliance with Declaration of Helsinki (https://www.wma.net/what-we-do/education/medical-ethics-manual/) in all studies involving the “Human” element. For this type of studies, authors are required to state in the MATERIAL AND METHOD section that they conducted the study in compliance with these principles and that obtained “Informed Consent” from ethical committee of related institutions and from individuals participating in the study. If “Animal” is used in the study, authors are required to state in the MATERIAL AND METHOD section that they protected the animal rights in line with the principles of Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (https://www.nap.edu/catalog/5140/guide-for-the-care-and-use-of-laboratory-animals) during their study and that they obtained approval from the ethical committee of their institution. In case presentations, regardless of whether the identity of the patient is revealed, “Informed Consent” must be obtained from the patients.
If there is a direct or indirect commercial connection in the article or there is an institution providing financial support for the study, authors are required to state that they have no relation with the commercial product, drug, company... used in the study, and if there is a relation, the nature of such relation (consultant, other agreements) in the presentation to the editor page. If “Ethical Committee Approval” is required for the article, obtained document shall be submitted together with the article via the section in the “Send Online Article” link provided in http://www.ajohoim.org website. The authors are responsible for the compliance of the article with ethical convention. During the evaluation of the article, authors may be asked to submit research data related to the article and/or ethical committee approval document if deemed necessary by the publisher.

BIOSTATISTICAL EVALUATION

All retrospective, prospective and experimental research articles must be biostatistically evaluated and presented with appropriate plan, analysis and reporting. P values must be explicitly presented in the article (eg. p = 0.025; p = 0.524). Before research articles are submitted to the journal, they must be reviewed by a biostatistics expert and the name of the expert must be included with the authors. Additional information on biostatistical compliance of articles submitted to biomedical journals can be found at www.icmje.org The authors are responsible for the compliance of the article with biostatistical convention.

EVALUATION OF LITERARY LANGUAGE

Publication language of the journal is Turkish and English. Turkish dictionary or www.tdk.gov.tr website of Turkish Language Association must be the basis of Turkish articles. English articles and English abstracts must be evaluated by a linguist before being submitted to the journal and linguist approval must be explicitly stated in the presentation to the editor page. If the person reviewing the article in terms of English use is not one of the authors, name of that person must be stated in the ACKNOWLEDGEMENT section at the end of the article. In addition, typing errors or grammatical mistakes are corrected by our redaction committee without changing the content of the article. Authors are responsible for the compliance of the article with writing and grammar rules.

PUBLICATION RIGHT

According to 1976 Copyright Act, any and all publication rights of the articles accepted for publication belong to the publisher of the journal. Authors are solely responsible for the opinions and recommendations in the articles. Authors receive no payment for their articles. Authors must fill the “Copyright Transfer Form, Conflict of Interest Statement, Author Contribution Form” found in http://www.tdk.gov.tr/ website and submit it together with the article via the “Send Online Article” link provided in http://www.tdk.gov.tr/ website.

TRANSCRIPT TYPES

Types of transcripts to be submitted to the journal for publication are as follows:

Original Research: Prospective-retrospective and any experimental studies conducted in clinics can be published.
Structure: - Abstract (500 words on average; objective, material and method, results and conclusion sections, Turkish and English) - Introduction - Material and Method - Results - Discussion - Conclusion - Acknowledgment - References (max. 30 resources).
Review: Prepared by direct or invited authors. Review articles can be prepared on any subject with medical characteristics by including the most recent medical literature. Authors are preferred to have publications on the related topic.
Structure: - Abstract (400 words on average, no sections, Turkish and English) - Headers related to the subject - References (max. 150 resources).
Case Reports: These are the articles that provide information on the impact and evidence of rare cases that different diagnosis and treatment. Articles must be supported with sufficient pictures and diagrams.
Structure: - Abstract (300 words on average, no sections, Turkish and English) - Introduction - Case Presentation - Discussion - References (max. 15 resources).
Editorial Opinion/Discussion: These are the review of original research articles by experts of the field, other than the original authors. They are published at the end of the related article.
Letter to the Editor (with invitation): These maximum 500-word transcripts contain various opinions, experiences and questions from readers about articles published in the journal within the last year.
Structure: - No header or abstract. - Number of references is limited to 5. - Original article must be cited (with date and number) and name, institution and address of the author must be stated. Letter is replied by the editor or the author(s) of the article and published in the journal.
Scientific Letter: These articles inform the readers on integrative medicine, nutrition and orthomolecular medicine and discuss the subject by citing printed scientific articles.
Structure: - Abstract (100-150 words on average, no section, Turkish and English) - Headers related to the subject – References

Interventional Technique: Articles where interventional techniques are discussed in detail.
Structure: - Abstract (100-150 words on average, no section, Turkish and English) - Headers related to the subject – References

Differential Diagnosis: Case presentations with up-to-date value. Contains opinion on similar diseases.
Structure: - Abstract (100-150 words on average, no section, Turkish and English) - Headers related to the subject – References

Original Images: Medical images and pictures with explanation on rare conditions in the literature.
Structure: - 300-word text, original images, references

What is your diagnosis?: Articles that are prepared in a “Question and Answer” form about rare disease that exhibit contrast in diagnosis and treatment.
Structure: - Headers related to the subject - References (3 to 5)

Medical Book Review: Reviews of nationally or internationally accepted books with current value. Questions and Answers: Instructive and educational questions and answers on medical topics.
Proving Studies: Review of the result reports of proving studies on nationally or internationally accepted homeopathic drugs.
Structure: - Abstract (100-150 words on average, no section, Turkish and English) - Proving technique – References

Materia Medica Sections: Review of the materia medica result reports of proving studies on nationally or internationally accepted homeopathic drugs.
Structure: - Abstract (100-150 words on average, no section, Turkish and English) - References
Monograph: Nationally or internationally accepted investigational Phytotherapy monographs.
Structure: - Abstract (100-150 words on average, no section, Turkish and English) – References

Analysis Reports: Validated analysis methods and analysis result reports of medical products used in Integrative Treatment.
Structure: - Abstract (100-150 words on average, no section, Turkish and English) Methodology - Validation Results - Discussion – References

Tool Development Reports: Technological development reports of the tools used in the manufacturing and analysis of medical products used in Integrative Treatment.
Structure: - Abstract (100-150 word on average, no section, Turkish and English) Methodology - Validation Results - Scientific Contribution - Discussion – References


 

WRITING RULES

Below formatting principles must be followed in articles submitted for publication:
- Article must be written using Microsoft Word on PC-compatible computers.
ABBREVIATIONS:
Abbreviations are provided in parenthesis for the first instance and abbreviated for the remainder of the text. Refer to “Rules for Scientific Writing” 1 for international abbreviations.
FIGURE, IMAGE, TABLE AND GRAPHICS:
- Locations of figure, image, table and graphics within the text must be stated at the end of the sentence. Description of figure, image, table and graphics must be added to the end of the article.
- Figures, images/pictures must be added to the system separately in .jpg or .gif format (pixel size is approximately 500x400, scanned at 8 cm with and 300 resolution).
- Abbreviations used must be stated in captions of figures, images, tables and graphics.
- If previously printed figure, picture, table and graphics are used, permission must be obtained and such permission must be stated in the caption of the figure, picture, table and graphic.
- Pictures/photographs must be colored, clear and have proper contrast to provide details.
PRESENTATION TO THE EDITOR: It must be stated that the article has not been submitted to another journal; its category, persons or institutions providing financial support (if any) and the relation of these institutions with authors (if any) must be specified.
COVER SHEET: Title of the article (Turkish and English), names and surnames of all authors, their ORCID numbers (https://orcid.org/register ), academic titles, institutions, work phone GSM, e-mail and correspondence addresses must be stated. If the article has been presented as a statement before, statement date and place must be specified.
ABSTRACTS: Abstracts must be prepared as mentioned in the TRANSCRIPT TYPES section and inserted into the article text.
KEYWORDS:
- Must contain at least 3-5 words, written in Turkish and English.
- Words must be separated with semicolon (;).
- English keywords must be in accordance with “Medical Subject Headings (MESH)” (See: www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html ).
- Turkish keywords must be in accordance with “Turkish Scientific Terminology” (TBT) (See: www.bilimterimleri.com ).
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: If there is any conflict of interest, financial support, donation and editorial (statistical analysis, English/Turkish evaluation) and/or technical assistance, these must be presented at the end of the article.
References:
References are cited in original format and in accordance with Index Medicus (See: www.icmje.org ).
References must be written in order they appear in the text and stated as “Superscript” immediately after the punctuation mark at the end of the related sentence.. If there are 6 or less authors, all authors must be provided; for 7 or more authors, first 6 authors must be written followed by “et al”. Congress statements, personal experiences, unprinted publications, dissertations and Internet addresses cannot be used as reference.
